The UK Marine industry is generally divided into four key areas: commercial, offshore renewables, naval and leisure. It does however cover various other smaller areas. According to the Marine Industries Alliance, the Marine industry supports over 1 million jobs, adding £46.1bn to the UK economy. Maritime is responsible for facilitating 95% of UK global trade, worth over £500bn per year. The UK maritime workforce is 42% more productive than the average UK worker.

International Institute of Marine Surveying
It is realised in today’s world that people are considered to be more competent through extending their knowledge by following a programme of continuous development, learning and updating. The CPD Programme has been endorsed by the Board of Directors and although not mandatory, is expected for members to maintain their level of membership.
British Marine
British Marine is the trade association for the UK leisure, superyacht and small commercial marine industry. Our 1,500+ members come from a broad range of businesses including boat builders, chandlers, brokers, marinas, passenger boats and engines.
The core aim of the business is to deliver excellence. Both in the quality of its membership services, its representation of the interests of members and the boating community alike and, most importantly, in the quality of its members.
Liverpool John Moores University
LJMU’s Maritime Centre offers commercial training to pilots, deck officers and masters in all aspects of navigation and ship handling. The Centre’s simulators can be tailored to suit any specific requirements for clients to enable training in any field relevant to simulation.
The Centre has an exceptional array of marine training facilities, including a five bridge full mission ship-handling simulator, in addition to several desktop-based bridges, as well as an engine room simulator.
